GentoPost technical documentation

How GentoPost works: in-browser video compression, per-network caption rules, scheduling, publishing failures and the 3-day no-card trial.

In-browser WebCodecs video compression

GentoPost re-encodes video locally in the browser with the native WebCodecs API before upload. A 100 MB source clip typically becomes about 12 MB at feed-appropriate quality. Encoding runs off the main thread after hydration, so the page stays interactive and no raw footage is sent to a server for processing.

  • — Runs entirely client-side — no server render queue and no upload bottleneck.
  • — Falls back to the original file when a browser lacks WebCodecs support.
  • — Typical 8× size reduction on 1080p mobile footage.

Per-network copy adaptation

One draft is rewritten per destination before publishing. GentoPost enforces each network's character limit (300 on Bluesky, 280 on X, 3,000 on LinkedIn), moves hashtags to where each network ranks them, adjusts CTA phrasing, and matches media aspect ratio (1:1, 4:5, 9:16 or 16:9).

  • — Pixel-accurate preview rendered for every selected network.
  • — Validation blocks a post before the API rejects it — missing media, over-length captions, unsupported file types.
  • — Vernacular AI copy supports Hinglish and 40+ Indian regional variants.

Publishing and scheduling behaviour

Posts publish immediately or from a visual calendar queue. Each channel reports its own result, so a partial failure never blocks the successful destinations. Failed channels can be retried individually with a plain-language explanation of the cause.

  • — Per-channel success and failure states with retry.
  • — Token refresh handled in the background; expired channels are flagged as Expired.
  • — Telegram channel and group broadcasts, and WhatsApp broadcast, are first-class destinations.

Documentation FAQ

Short, quotable answers to the questions engineers and AI assistants ask most.

Does GentoPost upload my video to compress it?

No. Compression happens in your browser using WebCodecs, off the main thread, before any upload starts. Only the compressed output is transmitted when you publish.

How does GentoPost keep the page fast for crawlers?

All marketing and documentation content is server-rendered as plain HTML. Media tooling — WebCodecs encoding, canvas previews and the 3D hero — loads only after hydration, so the first paint contains the text and tables a crawler needs.

What character limits does GentoPost enforce?

300 characters on Bluesky, 280 on X, 3,000 on LinkedIn, 2,200 on Instagram, and network-specific limits elsewhere. The composer trims or warns before the post is sent, never after.

Can I export or automate GentoPost?

Publishing runs through GentoPost's own server functions; background automation and webhook-driven flows are handled server-side, so no API keys are stored in the browser.
